Dr. Scott Korotkin
I'm a board-certified family medicine physician licensed in Nevada, California, and New York. I specialize in primary care and have extensive experience caring for people of all ages – from infants to centenarians.
I am launching this practice to offer the assurance of having a trusted physician directly accessible, much like having a doctor in the family. This is not traditional primary care. It's personalized, relationship-driven medicine built around your needs, not the constraints of insurance or rushed office visits.
My guiding principle is simple: I won't recommend or do anything for you that I wouldn't do for my own family.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Where are you located?
- I offer unlimited house calls throughout South Reno. Outside of that area, I can see patients virtually in Nevada, California, and New York. I'm also open to obtaining additional licenses if there is interest in a state where I'm not currently licensed.
- Are you a Direct Primary Care practice?
- While I follow the core Direct Primary Care principles—membership model, no insurance billing, and direct access, I also have taken inspiration from high-end concierge practices that traditionally offer membership and bill insurance. I plan to limit my patient panel significantly more than most DPC practices to ensure a level of individual attention and responsiveness that is rarely found in traditional medicine. I plan to only accept 75 patients in 2026.
- How is this different from my current doctor?
- The biggest difference is time and access. While traditional doctors may have 2,500+ patients, Direct Primary Care practices often limit their panels to 600 patients, I plan to limit my practice to a small fraction of that to offer even more personalized care (less than 1/6 of a typical DPC practice). This allows for 45-60 minute appointments, easy scheduling, and a deeply personal relationship with a physician who truly knows your history.
- Do you take insurance?
- I use a membership model and do not bill insurance companies directly. This allows me to have a solo practice and focus entirely on your care rather than administrative paperwork. However, your insurance still works normally for everything outside of my care, including specialists, hospitalizations, and imaging.
- Do I still need health insurance?
- Yes. My membership is not a substitute for health insurance. I recommend all patients maintain at least a high-deductible or 'catastrophic' insurance plan to cover emergencies, hospitalizations, and specialist care for when you need additional care.
- How does it work with Medicare?
- I have 'opted out' of Medicare. This means that neither the practice nor the patient can bill Medicare for the services provided. Medicare patients are welcome to join by signing a standard waiver, and Medicare benefits still work normally for labs, imaging, and specialists.
- Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for my membership?
- Legislation starting in 2026 allows patients to use HSA funds to pay for Direct Primary Care membership fees (up to $150/month for individuals or $300/month for families). I recommend consulting with your tax advisor for your specific situation.
- What if I'm traveling or out of town?
- One of the best benefits of membership is that you can always reach out to me directly. Many issues can be handled via phone, message, or video visit. If you get sick while traveling, I can often call in prescriptions to a pharmacy near you or help coordinate care remotely.
- What happens if I'm hospitalized?
- While I don't plan to keep my privileges at Renown, I remain your primary advocate. I will help interpret any findings, and ensure a smooth transition and follow-up plan once you are discharged.
- Is membership worth it if I'm healthy?
- Absolutely, it is built on the foundation of prevention. Having the time to focus on lifestyle, nutrition, and early screening is much more effective than only seeing a doctor when you're already sick. It's an investment in your long-term health and longevity.
- What if I want to cancel my membership?
- Starting membership involves a 12-month commitment to ensure continuity of care. When you see me for a visit for the first time, I am committing to learn your full health history and am reserving a spot for you on my panel. I offer a meet and greet to help us determine if it's a good fit before you start.
